Greetings from Essen, Germany.

We had a good show and a happy audience in Werden, the city where also the Folkwang Tanzstudio is based. Lots of good traditions going on in Werden.

Here in the photos we are having a dress herearsal for the evenings show. Have a look.

A dress rehearsal is a full-scale rehearsal or practice of a theater or musical performance. This practice is intended to perfect the performance before the public sees it, making sure every detail of the show meets expectations. The cast members wear their costumes and accessories during the dress rehearsal. They may even have the practice in front of the backdrop and using the props designed for the upcoming theater performance.

On the Road Part 11: FinnFest2011/SAN DIEGO

"The 2011 FinnFest USA festival, held at the Town & Country Convention and Resort Center in San Diego, had promised a chance to get to know contemporary Finland. Attendees confirm that Finland took on new meaning as a contemporary country with a contemporary culture with much to interest all Americans, regardless of their previous connection to Finland.

A major festival highlight included the chance to interact with the Moomins, the characters created by Tove Jansson in a series of beloved Finnish children's books about Moominvalley. Both children and adults wanted to talk to the Moomins and have their photograph taken with the Moomins. Minneapolis attorney, Elaine Kumpula, who had provided the legal assistance needed for the Moomins get their visas to come to the USA, was only one of many who went home with photos. The Moomins themselves had such a good time at the festival that they began discussions with the FinnFest USA board about how they could become a regular feature at future festivals."

Dancing Moomins in Finnfest 2011

You can meet the Dancing Moomins in San Diego, CA, USA. The Moomins take part of the FinnFest 2011 on August 11th, 12th and 13th.

EXPO Cultural Award for Dancing Moominvalley

And the celebration goes on!

Executive Commitee of World Exposition 2010 Shanghai China has granted Dancing Moominvalley @ Shanghai EXPO with a cultural award. Our production was the only one awarded participant of the whole cultural programme of Finland Pavilion. The award was given to the ensemble on February 16th in Tampere Raatihuone (Old Town Hall).

The historical cultural award is celebrated in Tampere on Tuesday April 5th with Dancing Moominvalley performace and other thematic events.

Kokonaisteokselle EXPOn kulttuuripalkinto!

Juhlat jatkuvat!

Shanghain maailmannäyttelykomitea on myöntänyt Dancing Moominvalley @ Shanghai EXPO -kokonaisteokselle kulttuuripalkinnon erityisen ansiokkaasta osallistumisesta Shanghain maailmannäyttelyyn. Teos on ainoa Suomen kulttuuriohjelman edustaja maailmannäyttelykomitean palkitsemien joukossa. Palkinto luovutettiin tuotantoryhmälle 16.2. klo 15 Tampereen Raatihuoneella.

Historiallista kulttuuripalkintoa juhlistetaan vielä Tampereella tiistaina 5.4. 2011 Tanssiteatteri MD:n Tanssiva Muumilaakso -juhlanäytöksellä ja teematapahtumilla.

50 Dancing Moominvalleys and counting!

Today we toasted for a celebration because yesterday, 3rd of February 2010, we had the 50th performance of Dancing Moominvalley!

And the end isn't even close! Next time Dancing Moominvalley can be seen in Kokkolan Talvitanssit -festival at 13th of February. The performances at home continue in early April.

Jo 50 Tanssivaa Muumilaaksoa!

Tänään kilisteltiin juhlan kunniaksi, sillä eilen 3.2.2011 esitettiin Tanssivaa Muumilaaksoa jo 50. kerran!

Eikä se tähän lopu. Seuraavan kerran Tanssiva Muumilaakso nähdään Kokkolan Talvitansseilla sunnuntaina 13.2. klo 16 ja kotiesitykset jatkuvat huhtikuun alussa.

Moi vaan pitkästä aikaa.

Ja hyvää tätä vuotta 2011.

Tanssiva Muumilaakso on taas lähdössä reissuun.

Ensin ovat kotiesitykset Tampereella Hällä-näyttämöllä helmikuun alussa. Tervetuloa vaan sinnekin.

Kokkolan Talvitansseilla tanssitaan sunnuntaina 13.2.2011 klo 16. Siis Kokkolan kaupunginteatterissa. Festivaalin taiteelliset johtajat Annet Koutonen ja Melender kirjoittavat festivaalista näin:

"Esittävä taide tapahtuu hetkessä. Juuri siinä kyseisessä tilassa, juuri niiden katsojien läsnäollessa. Katsojan kokemus on aina henkilökohtainen. Minulle itselleni katsojana se on vapauttavaa; saan muodostaa oman käsitykseni esityksestä, omien kokemuksieni kautta.

Toivottavasti valitsemamme esitykset herättävät sinussa ajatuksia ja tunteita sekä kokemuksen juuri tässä hetkessä olemisesta."
